Project 1 Exploring The Environmental Poetics: Taylor's "Gateway"

20% of final marks

Project 1 is to explores the environmental peotics of a structure that respond to the basic natural context such as the sun, wind, heat, cold energy issues, and the existing context. Students are required to design a structure within an open area applying ideas of environmental sustainability in archtiectural design. The structure should provide both a shelter and suitable environment for users. This project required of three group members to design the gateway.

I had able to identify and analyze envionmental qualities and contextual the needs of a site with applying the ideas of enviromental sustainability from the precedent studies in architectural design.

Project 2 : Natural Appreciation Centre

Proposal (Site Analysis & Precendent Study) 10%

I had learn to identify and analyze the site context of Pulau Banding located at Belum for design exploration. In groups, carry out a through research on the subject and site analysis. Hence, I able to identify and analyze envronmental and social needs of a site that lead to formulation of the design programme and contextural responses. Needed to create 4 A1 board of the site analysis on Belum.

Project 2 : Natural Appreciation Centre

Interim 20%

I had learn to design proposal incorporating precedent study and site analysis at appropraite level of presentation. The deisgn of a simple public building with some complexity that includes the complexity of site topography and vegetation, social-cultural events, and variety of strategies for sustainable design. On this period, i more focus on design concept to enhance the integration between the human and nature.

Project 2 : Natural Appreciation Centre

Final 50%

In the final stages, I had use the concept of symbiosis to design that harness environmental qualities and conditions for human and environment sustainability through a project with a specific community of users. I also able to explore some design solutions that reduce environmental impact such as green material, light construction, natural ventitaion instead of mechinacal ventilation. The design work should contribute to and merge harmoniously with the nature and the site, and provide the best of experiences between the users and nature.
