Project 2A(Exterior): Still rendering with Materials, Lights, Camera Views & Site context
From this assignment, I had learn to rendering with material, camera views, sunlight, light effect and even more.
2 Eye View Perpestive
Eye Level From Left PerpestiveThis render image was the entrance of building with full of bird around. | Eye Level From Right PerpestiveIt took me 18hours to render it via vray. I'm satified with it :D |

Work In Progress ( Exterior )
Material
- Material Maps
From here, I had learn to apply texture image onto the model by using vray mtl, bitmap, bump, displace, vray dirt, uvw map include rotate and more.
1Applied Vray Mtl in material slot | 2Click diffuse button to insert image | 3Choose bitmap |
---|
4Select an wooden image for texture | 5Assign material to selection to the floor tiles | 6The wooden texture shown on floor tiles |
---|
7Add uvw map into modifier to adjust the texture size | 8Rotate 90degree at W from coordinate | 9Render to see the size whether correct |
---|
10The edge of wooden tiles was not obvious so i decide to add vray dirt | 11I chose the vray dirt from the diffuse button | 12Kept the material as sub object to remain the wooden bitmap |
---|
13After applied vray dirt, the edge much more obvious than previous without it | 14I decide to add bump to pop out the effect more 3d | 15Need to choose purple & white or black & white image to bump. Purple & white is the best choice than black & white |
---|
16After applied bump, the texture much more poping out but is not enough, so i decide to add the purple & white to displace | 17After displace it much better. |
---|
- Unwrap Uvw
From here, I had learn to apply texture image onto the curve model by using unwrap map. But at last I use uvw map because my curve roof not that curve enuf to show the effectiness. Because the more the curve, the more stretch the bitmap it is.
1Choose an steel image on google | 2Applied unwrap uvw because is curve | 3Select polygon faces to adjust the texture size nad position |
---|
4Edit the uvws by using scale, rotate and move button | 5Choose bitmap by using vray mtl | 6select the steel image |
---|
7assign the steel bitmap to selection model | 8render and see the effect | 9I want the steel more darker, so i adjust the outpost of it by enable color map and adjust the mono effect |
---|
10pull down the black effect to increase darkness | 11at last, i still use uvw map because there were no much diff on uvw map and unwrap uvw because the curve roof was not that curve |
---|
- Steel & Glass
From here, I had learn to create steel & and glass material by adjusting the reflection, refraction, ior, glossiness, brdf, and diffuse colour.
GlassDiffuse and Fog colour to adjust glass colour
Reflect to adjust the reflective to environment
Refraction to adjust opcaity of glass
Ior adjust to 1.6 for glass effect
Fog multiplier to adjust colour deepness
Affect shadows to tick on glass effect | SteelDiffuse to adjust colour
Refraction to adjust the reflect colour
Fresnel Ior to adjust relfective effect
Refraction dont click anythings
BRDF to adjust the reflective light effect more nice |
---|
Environment Scene
- Create the background scene
From here, I had learn to create a daylight background scene by using dome plane.
1Prepare to add sphere to create background scene | 2Adjust the sphere into half | 3flip it to normal, if not during render can't be seen |
---|
4Add uvw map and choose spherical so that the bitmap image will become sphere instead of plane | 5Use Vray Override Mlt | 6Apply vray light mtl into base material |
---|
7Select vray light mtl to adjust the lightness of the bitmap | 8Click non button to put bitmap | 9Choose a daylight image |
---|
10than copy base material to GI | 11Adjust the the brightness generate by image |
---|
1Click Vray sun from top view and pull it
-Turbidity to adjust the yellowness of the sun
-ozone for fog effect
-intense multiplier to ajust the brightness of the sun light
-size multiplier to adjust the shadow effect | 2Adjust the position of the sun light at front or back viewport | 3increase the intense multiplier if render image is to dark |
---|
4Exlude the dome plane to allow sunlight to penetrate in the dome |
---|
- Sunlight
From here, I had learn there had 3 ways to do sunlight which are daylight, vray sun and sun. exlude the dome plane from the sunlight because it will block the sunlight penetrate in.
- Vray Properties
From here, I had adjust the GI, closed the frame buffer, tick on sky environment, and untick subpixel.
1Press F10 to adjust vray properties | 2Enable GI mode | 3Untick frame buffer because of gamma will work correctly after render image |
---|
4On GI environment to enable the environment light effect | 5Untick subpixel to reduce render time |
---|
- Light
From here, I using vray light to create light effect.
1Click vray light but the default was plane | 2Change from plane to dome | 3Adjust the multiplier for more brightness |
---|
4After render was to dark | 5Click 8 to adjust the vray exposure and low down the f-number so the render image will become brighter | 6Add another vray light in plane |
---|
7After render to show the light effect with multiplier 1 |
---|
- Camera
From here, I had learn to use vray camera to adjust the f-number, focal length etc.
1Choose Vray physical camera | 2Add the camera on top view and adjust the position | 3Adjust the f-number for birghtness |
---|
4After adjust the position I needed | 5After render, the image was to bright | 6So I decided to decrease the f-number to lower the birghtness |
---|
- Vray Proxy, Tree and Grass
From here, I had learn to convert 3d tree into vray proxy to reduce the memory size example the tree was 17mb after convert is around 200kb. hence, reduce the render time.
Landscape
1Import a tree object | 2Select all the tree part | 3The pine tree had been placed |
---|
4Attach each other into one | 5Pick the color from the tree | 6Set user path to trace the color back |
---|
7Adding in | 8Choose the pathway of the tree textures | 9The path had add in |
---|
10Convert it to vray proxy by using vray mesh export | 11Click okay to convert to proxy | 12The tree become into smaller polygon |
---|
13AFter render, the tree is same shape after proxy | 14Click vray proxy to add another tree | 15Than click it on viewport to create another tree |
---|
16Red colour is the new tree | 17Applied all the tree and grass | 18Another view of it |
---|
19The file size was 135mb after all tree and plant import in |
---|
Project 2B (Interior): Still rendering with Materials, Lights, Camera Views & Site context
I had put the furniture, material, lighting and more in project 2A so not much can add in for project 2B except for render.
2 Eye View Perpestive Of Interior
KitchenAn interior perspective of kitchen & dining with the panaroma of forest view | Master RoomAn interior perspective of master room with wooden floor tiles and concete wall. |
---|
Work In Progress ( Interior )
1I had set the camera view for the masteroom and prepare for render | 2This is another camera view for the kitchen and dining room | 3Prepare to test render |
---|
4test render 1 for kitchen and dining room | 5test render 2 for kitchen and dining room and final view will be this | 6test render 1 for master room |
---|
7test render 2 for master room | 8test render 3 for master room | 9I sent to photoshop to add human figres and lens flare |
---|
 10Create a new layer | 11Press Alt+Del to make it black | 12Go filter > Render < Lens flare |
---|
13Choose the type I want | 14adjust the brightness and position of the sun | 15the lens flare had been formed |
---|
16Set it to screen so blackness will gone | 17The kitchen & dining had been photoshop finised with lens flare | 18I decide to add in human figures and spot lights |
---|
19Same method as 11, press Alt+del | 20Adjust the size of spot lights | 21Adjust the angle by click to point |
---|
22Set screen to remove blackness | 23The maste room had been photoshop finised with spot lights |
---|
